Yakima KingJoe 3-Bike Carrier
Yakima KingJoe 3-Bike Carrier – compact trunk rack holds up to 3 bikes
When looking for bike rack for your car it is pretty easy to get overwhelmed with all the different types and the huge range of prices. Basically there are 3 types: roof, hitch, and trunk racks and the price varies based on the type of rack and extent of features. Trunk racks are one of the cheapest options and are one of the easier racks to load.
The Yakima KingJoe 3-Bike Carrier straps on to the back of your car and fits up to 3 bikes. The rack is equipped with Yakima’s patented Quick Trigger Hub design that makes installation a breeze. Six retention straps hold your bikes securely in place and the narrow arm design fits a wide variety bike frame sizes. The Yakima Kind Joe has thick padded buckles and feet to protect your car so you need not worry about the rack scratching the back of your car.
Although the KingJoe fits on more vehicles than any other Yakima bike rack, it doesn’t fit on every car. Simply put your car make and model into the Yakima Rack Fitter to see which racks will be the best fit for your car.
The quick & dirty:

Why they rock:
- Compact trunk rack holds from 1 to 3 bikes
- Easy installation with Yakima’s quick-trigger hub system
- 6-strap system secures bikes firmly
- Padded feet and buckles protect car’s paint job
- Bike arms fold down when not in use for easy storage
Seat-of-the-pants rating: 8 out of 10
The KingJoe is a great choice if you only need a rack to carry bikes. A great thing about the KingJoe is it is easy to remove and you can easily share the rack between cars – if the rack fits both cars of course. The only bummer side of the KingJoe bike carrier is that is unable to accommodate other gear like kayaks or skis. If you are looking for a rack that can carry all sorts of different gear you will want to go with a roof rack system.
