I wont lie, I have never really been a fan of wind shells. They just never seemed worth it to me. Many of them seem to be a sorry excuse for a jacket. If they cant keep you warm, why else would you want something that could protect you from the wind? Sure, you could always layer under it, but if that were the case, why not just get a windwall? Despite all of my negative thoughts toward wind shells, I was some what impressed with the North Face Geosphere Jacket.

One gripe I have always had with wind shells is that if its windy, its probably going to be rainy or misty. Obviously this isn’t always the case, but it does happen quite often. If this is the case, why wouldn’t the majority of wind shells be water proof or at least water resistant? It is this feature that first drew me to the North Face Geosphere Jacket. This wind shell has a durable water resistant finish to help add some extra protection from the elements.

The North Face Geosphere Jacket may be a simple wind shell, but it is a much beefier one than those I have looked wt in the past. It has enough features to really get my attention. Some of these include things like sleeves cuffs that use draw cords and Velcro. This helps really keep the elements out. And of course, the North Face Geosphere Jacket is extremely packable, which is always a plus for any outdoor activity.

I am still not a big fan of wind shell type jackets, but if I had to get one, I would seriously consider the North Face Geosphere Jacket. It has some nice features, and offer about as much protection from the elements as you can expect to find in a wind shell. Id rather spend the extra money and get a full on windwall type jacket, but that’s just me.
