Recently REI introduced a new line of four season tents. Normally this would be less than exciting news, but there are some unique features about this set of four season tents. These All Season tents, as REI calls them, aim to bridge the gap between three-season, ultra-light backpacking tents and heavier mountaineering tents built for extreme weather.

There are a lot of great ideas and technologies going on inside and out on the REI Cirque ASL 3 Tent. One of these features is the dual doors. Aside from allowing more entry and exit points, these multiple doors help to increase ventilation. The mesh panels can be left open in nice weather or sealed shut with the nylon cover when the weather goes south. Additionally, each door has its own vestibule. The doors on the vestibule can be left half way open to help increase ventilation.

The combination of the REI Cirque ASL 3 Tent’s asymmetrical floor plan and reverse combi pole system, it gives the tent ample space for three. Not only does this design offer space, it offers space where you need it. Extra head room for three and well angled walls don’t go unnoticed in the REI Cirque ASL 3 Tent

The quick & dirty:

Where you can get one:
REI: $299

Why they rock:

Seat-of-the-pants rating: 9 out of 10

It certanly seems like REI has gone out of their way to make the REI Cirque ASL 3 Tent an impressive, all season, 3 person tent. While there are plenty of great feature in the REI Cirque ASL 3 Tent, my favorite part has to be the price. At only $299 for an all season 3 person tent, its a steal.
