These are heady times for makers of travel pillows.
Now that American Airlines, the nation’s largest carrier, has jettisoned pillows from most domestic flights, conventional wisdom has it that other major carriers are bound to follow suit.
American estimates it will save $675,000 a year by eliminating these small comforts. Though the pillows are available on transcontinental trips and flights to Hawaii, the domestic cutbacks mean potential gains for the travel goods industry.
