PDA’s are for the Birds
National Geographic’s Handheld Birds PDA gives flashpackers a great resource for brining along your bird-watching guide while still keeping your weight to a minimum.
Available either separately as software for Palm OS based devices, and provided to you on an SD card, at $249.95 or included in a bundle with a Tungsten E2 for $499.95.
The software features over 1600 images of birds, and a searchable database of 867 North American bird species. For an avid birdwatcher, the 4 hours of song and call audio could be a big hit, and the software allows you to compare and contrast between bird characteristics.
I think it’s a bit pricey, but for someone serious about bird watching that likes to travel simply, it seems to fit the bill well.
