Patagonia Vitaliti Travel Skirt – a classy, yet hardcore eco-friendly travel skirt
I get insanely attached to clothing and when I find something I love I buy it in every color. I got my first Patagonia Vitaliti skirt almost 3 years ago for a trip to Central America and have since worn that same skirt through many slot canyons in Southern Utah, on the entire 11-miles of Kauai’s Kalalau Trail, and on more car, plane, and river trips than I can count. It is my official travel skirt.
I wasn’t always a travel skirt enthusiast. It wasn’t until we decided to hike through Italy’s Cinque Terre in sarongs and bikinis rather than wait for the train, that I discovered the beauty of hiking in a skirt. Oh and this was long before the birth of the running skirt.
Travel skirts are comfy, breezy, and you can dress them up or down depending on the need. The Patagonia Vitaliti Skirt is made from organic cotton and recycled polyester so it is pretty durable and breathes nicely, not to mention eco-conscious. Made with just a touch of spandex, you can stuff the skirt in the bottom of your pack and then whip it out, shake it out, and it is essentially wrinkle free.
The faux-wrap style can look pretty classy for gallery tours or fine dining, but can also make you look pretty hardcore when you’re scaling a mountain in it. I personally love the fact that I can hike it up easily for bathroom runs in the woods and that after nearly 3 years of intense wear, the skirt doesn’t show the least bit of abuse – not even a snag. It is also nice to know that if it ever does wear out, I can recycle the skirt through Patagonia’s Common Threads Recycling Program. I love the idea that my skirt would live on in and be a part of someone else’s adventures.

Only problem with the skirt is that it keeps calling me from the closet, begging me for more adventure. The skirt really wants to hike to Machu Picchu and make a pilgrimage to its birthplace in Argentina’s Patagonia Mountains. If I could just find some cheap flights to Italy, it may get its real dream of hiking one of these five great hikes in Italy.
