Panasonic Lumix TS1
I’ll be the first to admit that I am incredibly clumsy, accident prone AND I am really good at breaking expensive electronics by getting them wet. Needless to say, this combined set of characteristics has led to the demise of many a cell phone and digital camera under my watch. This is exactly why I decided that the next camera I was going to buy just had to be a waterproof digital camera. This way I continue my bad habits and clumsy ways without my bank account and electronics paying the price.
Earlier this winter I bought a Panasonic Lumix camera. I was immediately impressed. Not only was it easy to use, but it was light, reacted quickly and came out with fantastic photos. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS1 is Panasonic’s first adventure camera, and is both waterproof up to 3 meters and shockproof up to 1.5 meters.
The Lumix is a 10 megapixel, waterproof digital camera has a 4x zoom, face recognition, HD video and more. While this camera is not waterproof to the same depths as some of the others out on the market, the Panasonic Lumix is also one of the few waterproof digital camera to feature HD video, a great addition to these handy little gadget.
Intelligent exposure, face recognition and other features also make this drop proof, waterproof camera super easy and convenient to use. It’s the perfect camera for those who may find themselves caught in a rainstorm, want to take their camera kayaking or are simply clumsy and looking to avoid another expensive mistake.

What’s built like a truck and can take nice photos? The Panasonic TS1. Panasonic’s long history of building ToughBook computers seems to be an inspiration for the industrial design of the Panasonic TS1. The new camera is waterproof, dustproof and shockproof, just like most of that impressive line of computers. While the Lumix TS1 was not built to handle quite the same abuse as a rugged notebook, but it was designed for the average consumer photographer who tends to be careless with his precious camera: taking it to the beach, tossing it on the counter, dropping it on the ground, taking it out in the rain. But the Lumix TS1 was also built so you could use it outdoors, at the beach, on the boat, and even under the water when snorkeling or just swimming. The Panasonic Lumix camera also differentiates itself from other waterproof digital cameras by its HD video capabilities, which many of the other tough cameras lack.
