When National Geographic Adventure magazine says a piece of gear is awesome one should take note. In 2009 the Osprey Exos 58 Pack was awarded Best of Adventure Gear by the editors of National Geographic magazine. I’m not National Geographic editor, but I would have to say that they were pretty spot on with their judgment of the Osprey Exos 58 Pack. This pack is a great multipurpose piece of adventure gear.

The one thing that I really like about the Osprey Exos 58 Pack is its ability to transform from a multi-day pack to a multi-week pack. The Osprey Exos 58 Pack features two lightwieght compressions straps, one on each side. These straps allow you to compress the bag when going on shorter trips. Because the bag is already so lightwieght, have a small bit of unused bag isn’t really a big deal. Unless of course your counting ounces.

The Osprey Exos 58 Pack is pretty lightweight right out of the box. Don’t let the lack of wieght trick you into thinking there aren’t a lot of features. The Osprey Exos 58 Pack is loaded down with tons of bells and whistles. Unlike some packs that are filled with features, the Osprey Exos 58 Pack features are all well thought out and extremely useful. No lame features here that you will never use. Just a ton of really cool things that can do double time.

Seat-of-the-pants rating: 8 out of 10

I have always been a fan of the entire Osprey line of gear. The Osprey Exos 58 Pack is just another prime example of why I love them so much. You get an awesome pack that can easily transform to meet your latest activity or hike. It is built tough and has a TON of great and well thought out features.
