A good lightweight jacket is a must have if you are a regular backpacker or day hiker. The question is, what makes a good backpacking jacket? A backpacking jacket should be lightweight, semi-water resistant, and breathable. There are a number of great jackets out there that meet this criteria, but many of the better ones cost upwards of $200. The Marmot Gravity Jacket on the other hand will only set you back about $150. Not a bad price for a jacket that will last for years to come and offer you all the features you need to backpack comfortably.

I would argue that the most important feature of a good backpacking jacket is its breathability. You don’t want to get too cold while wearing the jacket, but you certainly don’t want to start sweating bullets while you wear it either. The Marmot Gravity Jacket does a god job at letting your body breath. It also offers a moisture wicking fabric lining to help keep you dry.

The Marmot Gravity Jacket is warm enough to wear on cool hikes. Should you get to hot, you can easily shed the Marmot Gravity Jacket and toss it in your pack. If you get a bit colder, the Marmot Gravity Jacket is also sleek enough to be worn under an outter layer for added warmth.

Maybe Im an outdoor geek, but I think all the lightwieght jackets like this are really slick looking. The only problem I have with them is that most are expensive and Im a cheapskate. But, the Marmot Gravity Jacket is right in my price range. With a cost of about $150, you cant go wrong.
