Marmot Arete 40-Degree Sleeping Bag
Marmot Arete +40 Sleeping Bag – ultra-lightweight warm weather sleeping bag
This ultra-lightweight bag is the bomb for the fastpacking, “go light” variety. At only 1 pound 8 ounces, the Marmot Arete 40-Degree Down Sleeping Bag is perfect for those obsessed with keeping it light.
The Marmot Arete will keep you comfy down to 40 degrees F with its 800-fill-power goose down and water-repellent nylon shell. Ground-level seams prevent cold air from leaking into your bag and allow the down to loft as fully as a featherbed. A baffled hood keeps your head snug and warm if you need it – just cinch the face muff and be enveloped in down goodness.
The bag is ideal for warm weather backpacking, bike touring, and summer road trips in drier climates. Down bags like the Marmot Arete are very light, breathable, and compressible but don’t perform as well as synthetic bags when wet.

Seat-of-the-pants rating: 10 out of 10
The Marmot Arete is a fabulous summer bag or all-around bag if you live in a mild climate. The bag compresses so easy and with a compression sack you can get this baby down to the size of a water bottle. I personally love it but I am a fairly warm sleeper and can’t stand roasting in a sleeping bag. It breathes nicely so you don’t wake up all sweaty in warmer temps yet traps the heat in when you need it. If you plan on camping in the 40 degree range and tend to be a cold sleeper – I would highly recommend a 15-degree bag like the Marmot Helium instead.
