If you are one of those backpackers who loves pockets, straps, and zippers all over your pack, then you are sure to enjoy the Kelty Redwing 2650 Day Pack. This hefty day pay pack full of all sorts of pockets and straps. Hell, there are even pockets inside of pockets in the Kelty Redwing 2650 Day Pack. All these pockets make it easy for you to keep your gear organized and easy to find at a moments notice. Another great feature of the Kelty Redwing 2650 Day Pack is that it is big enough for day hikes or overnighters.

Pockets aside, the Kelty Redwing 2650 Day Pack has plenty of room just in its main compartment. The main compartment gives you more than enough room to pack everything you could need or want for a day hike. But it also has enough room to carry enough gear for over night trips or even a weekend hike if you are a light packer. Whats nice about the main pocket on the Kelty Redwing 2650 Day Pack is that it uses a panel opening rather than a top loading design. This makes it easier to go through the main compartment without having to pull everything out of it.

Unlike some day packs out there, the Kelty Redwing 2650 Day Pack doesn’t skimp when it comes to a comfortable harness system. The Kelty Redwing 2650 Day Pack sports shoulder straps and a waist pack that are similar to those found on the full size Kelty backpacks. For example, the shoulder straps on the pack are already curved for a more comfortable fit and the mesh hip belt is molded for a more secure and comfortable fit as well. There are also a number of stabilizer straps and a sternum strap to better offset the load of the pack.

Why they rock:

Seat-of-the-pants rating: 9 out of 10

I am no longer really a big fan of pocket happy backpacks, but when I was I LOVED Kelty backpacks. As I said before, if you like a lot of pockets, the Kelty Redwing 2650 Day Pack has plenty of them. Kelty packs aren’t the lightest, but they are super tough and will last you for years to come for sure. I still have one of my very first backpacks, which was a Kelty, and is still as good as new.
