I spent the majority of my time growing up on the slopes of Colorado skiing on boys and men’s skis. With seemingly not as many options out there for us ladies, it always just seemed like the best skis were the men’s. The problem with this, however, is that us women have a much lower center of gravity than our male counterparts, which means we need skis that are designed just a little differently. My most recent pair of skis was a men’s pair of K2’s Public Enemy, which I loved until I demoed the same ski in the women’s version. Not only did I still get all the same benefits of my K2 Public Enemies, I had even more control over the ski and was able to pull the ever elusive 360 for the first time.

The K2 Public Enemies are the perfect all-mountain ski. The twin tips make it great for park skiing and pulling tricks, but the ski is still wide enough to do great in powder and rip down groomers. The versatility is definitely the best part of this ski and they have served me well on anything from an icy day with no new snow to blissful backcountry days with a fresh powder dump. The K2 PE uses an 85mm waist width with a stiffer flex Torsion Box construction to withstand the harshest landings and bolster your control when you’re ripping around the whole mountain. The K2s are also designed to give you maximum shock absorption, with the 2008 models beating out previous years in this category. With its great all-mountain versatility, whether you like to hit the bumps, ski the trees or jump in the parks, once you try the Public Enemy it is likely you’ll be a loyal convert, sticking to this twin-tipped titan as your go-to ski.

These skis are seriously great. If you’re like me (i.e. not paid to ski or independently wealthy) and can only afford to have one pair of skis (rather than having specialized powder, park and groomer skis), than K2’s Public Enemy is a great bet. These skis are easy to handle, give you great versatility and do well in pretty much any terrain you’ll find out there. Its twin tips and shock absorbent technology make it great for trying out new tricks, but it’s till wide enough to do well on a big powder day and they are easy enough to maneuver to take through the trees.
