How To: Survive a Plane Crash
According to BBC News, only 4.3% people (2300 of 53,487) who were in a plane crash in the US between the years 1983 and 2000 died. The total number of plane crashes was 568. The article doesn’t tell us how many of these were commercial airliners vs. private planes.
“Surviving an aircraft crash is not a matter of fate. You can help yourself getting out of an aircraft quickly, and so there are things you can do to improve your chances of surviving.”
The article is quite comprehensive although I have my doubts on how much one can actually do to prevent death in a crash of a large commercial airliner, it probably won’t hurt to try if you ever get into that kind of a situation.
