Granite Gear Uberlight DrySack
Granite Gear Uberlight DrySack – ridiculous light waterproof dry bag
When Granite Gear says uberlight, they’re talking less than an ounce kind of light. Granite Gear has taken ultralight to the next level with these dry sacks. The material is a super unique composite called Cubic Tech flexible fiber film. It is a transparent material with the 3 times the strength of sil-nylon. It has sort of crinkly feel and weighs next to nothing.
Originally designed for use as as sailcloth on World Cup sail boats, the material is inherently waterproof without the need for a waterproof coating. A waterproof roll-top closure compresses the contents and seals in dryness. The sack won’t compress as small as compression sacks, but the space saving squared off shape allows for better packing and less load shifting.
Available in four sizes from 7 liters to 18 liters in four colors, the Uberlight Dry Sacks are great for weight conscious travelers. The 7 liter barely registers on the scale at only .53 ounces. The 18-liter sack doesn’t weight a whole lot more at .74 ounces.
