GoLite Pinnacle
GoLite Pinnacle – Gives you more room with less weight.
To the average backpacker, the GoLite Pinnacle would certainly be a no frills backpack. But to the ultra light hiker or alpinist who demands simplicity, the GoLite Pinnacle is full of bells and whistles. The GoLite Pinnacle is the largest of the three packs in the GoLite Ultra Series and weighs in at around 1 pound 7 ounces!
There are a number of factors going on here to keep the GoLite Pinnacle as lightweight as possible. The first item is the packs material. The GoLite Pinnacle is made out of Dyneema gridstop nylon. The packs lidless design also helps to shed weight and create a more streamlined design.
What truly sheds weight on the GoLite Pinnacle is its harness system. The packs shoulder straps and hipbelt are more like what you would find on a daypack, but with a few extra comforts. The back panel is a removable piece of closed cell foam. The shoulder straps and hip wings are sewn into the pack itself.
The quick & dirty:
Where you can get one:
Amazon: $129
Why the rock:
- Lightweight and durable Dyneema and 210D ripstop nylon.
- Water-tight zipper on roomy front pocket.
- Foam back pad.
- Space mesh shoulder straps with Brock foam padding.
- Adjustable sternum strap and webbing for hipbelt.
Why it bites:
- Doesn’t carry heavy loads comfortably
- Little in the way of back support
Seat-of-the-pants rating: 9 out of 10
The drawbacks to this pack are only for descriptive purposes. They are there to inform readers that this isn’t your average backpack. That said, GoLite packs have always been my favorite ultra light packs and the GoLite Pinnacle is as good as the come.
